Generally, men are dreadful of beauty products and most of them have the notion that these products are meant only for ladies. This is not true because skin is sensitive and needs to be taken care of well. Furthermore, for the ultimate great look and great feel, proper skin care is paramount. It is interesting that men pay little attention to soaps, lotions and other skin products. In fact, most men focus on what the soap looks like and how it smells. They would not be comfortable using soap that is pink and smells like a bunch of fresh flowers. Great news is that there are ways for men to maintain good skin without going on the extreme and this article will give a few of the important highlights on doing just that.

  • Soaps and cleansers for men

Most men prefer bar soaps over liquid cleansers. Bar soaps may actually work for those with normal skin. When it comes to very dry skin, use of cleansers could be useful. These are better as they are much milder on the skin as compared to bar soaps. Men who insist on bar soaps should consider using those that have emollients such as glycerin and moisturizing oils such as jojoba or olive.

  • Moisturizers

The trend of beauty products and men not using them continues even with moisturizers. This can be okay for those with skin that is naturally oily. However, dry skin will definitely benefit from the soothing effect of a moisturizer. There are several options for that and they include use of a moisturizing shower bar or cleanser, shower lotions or moisturizer applied after showering. Special attention needs to be paid on areas that are prone to drying out such as the elbows, knees and lower legs. Men with acne problem may benefit greatly from moisturizers whose components include glycolic acid, salicylic acid or benzoic acid. These chemicals get rid of dead skin and also unplug pores thus preventing further acne.

  • Deodorants for men

Men do sweat a lot more than women and are therefore prone to body odor. Some men are comfortable using standard deodorants but others need to look for clinical strength deodorants that have a greater amount of the active ingredient. This type of special deodorant is really useful for men with hyperhidrosis which is a condition characterized by excessive sweating. Thanks to technology, now men with serious underarm sweating and body odor can find the antidote in Botox injections. Botox causes the muscles around sweat glands to deaden.

  • Sunscreen protection for men

The sun’s ultraviolet rays can damage the skin irrespective of whether it is that of a lady or gentleman. It leads to skin wrinkles, age spots and may cause skin cancer. Men need to consider using sunscreen that covers against both UVA and UVB and which contains SPF 15 or 30. This way, you will be free from any worries of the harsh effects of the sun on skin.

  • Antifungal for men

It is true that men sweat a lot and sweating makes you prone to get jock itch. This is a form of itchy rash that typically occurs on the groin, buttocks and inner thighs. It is caused by the same organism that causes athlete’s foot. Use of antifungal powder or spray is beneficial in case of such trouble. Other useful measures include showering and drying off really well as well as wearing boxers that are loose fitting instead of briefs.
